Student Health & Wellness
Student Wellness Center
A healthcare partnership with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, the Student Wellness Center is a fully integrated center providing accessible, confidential, high quality medical and mental services to support the academic and general wellbeing of students.
DipCares Wellness Program
Many students face challenges during college that can interfere with their success. DipCares is a wellness program at F&M that directs you toward the supportive resources available to you, empowers you to seek them out and ask for help when needed, and ensures faculty and staff know how to help you if you’re distressed.
Student Wellness Education and Violence Prevention
The Office of Student Wellness Education and Violence Prevention (WE-VP) provides education for students, professional staff and faculty on wellness-related topics and violence prevention.
Mindfulness at F&M
Mindfulness at F&M is a program that works with students, faculty, and professional staff to promote well-being, compassion and a renewed sense of awareness across campus. In recognizing the benefits that cultivating a mindfulness practice can bring, Mindfulness at F&M offers workshops and opportunities including yoga, nature walks, a book club, day trips, overnight retreats, and more.
Student Accessibility Services
The Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with students who have disabilities to determine reasonable accommodations and ensure that they have equal access to all aspects of their education. Accommodations may include academic, dining, and housing needs.
Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government. F&M’s Title IX office works to ensure the College’s compliance with this fundamental law and fosters a living, learning and working environment free of discrimination and harassment.
Academics & Wellness
The science of learning tells us that academics and wellness are not mutually exclusive, but rather integral and interrelated parts of success in college. Learning is optimal when stress is minimal. As such, we are committed to providing students with a holistic system of academic and wellness support in an effort to deconstruct educational, personal, and social challenges and co-construct positive, productive, and healthy habits.
The Student Support Hub
A constellation of tutoring and academic support services are available to you at F&M, many of which are located in one central location on campus: The Student Support Hub.
Here you'll find the Writing Center, the Quantitative & Science Center, DipCares and more. You can partner with professionals and student peers to develop skills as a purpose-driven learner, build habits for success, and reflect on how your knowledge provides momentum to achieve your goals.
Fitness & Recreation
Athletics at F&M is more than football games on Saturday afternoons. It's club sports, intramural sports, and terrific facilities for informal recreation, too. More than just a good way to work up a healthy sweat, we see athletics as a vital part of an integrated education, providing lessons in leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. So, whether it's basketball, tennis, rugby, or even Ultimate Frisbee, there's an athletic outlet for you at F&M.
Club sports are a variety of traditional and non-traditional activities that compete
in leagues and tournaments against other club teams from colleges and universities
from around the region and country.
Intramurals (IMs) are a collection of one-day tournaments, special events, and leagues
that put F&M student organized teams against other F&M student organized teams. IMs
vary in their competitiveness from activity to activity and from team to team.
The Department of Athletics & Recreation is committed to providing fitness and recreation
opportunities to the F&M community that promotes a healthy lifestyle, relieves stress,
and encourages positive social interaction.
The College's Athletics & Recreation facilities are available to the F&M community
to help its members meet their fitness and recreation goals.
Public Safety & Emergency Services
Anytime, day or night, students can rest assured that there are trained, licensed professionals available and ready to support them when needed.
F&M’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) is an accredited law-enforcement agency on
campus committed to making the F&M community a safe one for living and learning. The
team works 24 hours a day to maintain a safe atmosphere for students, faculty, staff,
and visitors.
F&M Emergency Medical Service (EMS) is a Basic Life Support (BLS) unit licensed by
the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The team provides emergency response to the
members of the F&M and surrounding Lancaster City community.
No Matter What, Support is Available
If you’re stuck and in need of help — no matter the issue — you can always start by talking with your College House dean or housing adviser (HA) and they can direct you to the right place. We just want to make sure you know you are not alone, especially when you are struggling.
